About Sarah BartlettSarah has been active in Women Writing for (a) Change ® since 1993 in weekly classes and summer retreats. She graduated with the 2004 Pioneer Class of its Feminist Leadership Academy, which was created to license women like herself to develop their own independent schools modeled on the philosophy, principles and practices of WWf(a)C. This intensive training also immersed participants in the skills required to hold and facilitate the well-being of the entire group as well as individuals doing the deep work the program inspires through professional, personal, political, recreational or healing writing. Like the classes she facilitates, FLA training is experiential: rather than teaching a body of knowledge, it creates a community of practice that extends beyond the program into the lives and work of all involved. Sarah believes deeply in the power of putting experience into words. She attributes her own awakened and deepening feminine spirituality to the life-transforming power of telling her stories within a mirroring community of women. A life-long writer, she notes that 'following the written thread across the years allows one to see how one has deepened, provides a connection with something bigger than self, a process for living and for change." "It's not what you write or what you produce as you write that is important. It is who you become while you're writing that is important." - Louise DeSalvo |
