SUMMER 2008 WRITING RETREAT
at the Metta Earth Institute, Lincoln, VT
Women both returning and new to WWf(a)C spend an extended time focused  on their writing, with time for other creative activities, silence, group sharing. Reflect, rest, explore within a facilitated community of creative women in a naturally inspiring setting. Experience writing as a way in to your questions, a vehicle for awakening, a tool for change. Build community, tell your truths, create meaning, heal. We ARE the change we have been waiting for. REGISTER NOW!

No prior experience required, either in writing or with Women Writing for (a) Change. We are a diverse community of women creating change in ourselves and our worlds, one truth, one voice at a time. This summer retreat opens the doors to women unable to attend longer semester classes for whatever reason; permits members of the WWfaC writing community to continue writing between semesters; brings together women from around the country yearning for reflective time in community in our spectacular setting.

Friday evening July 11 - Wednesday afternoon July 16.
$650 includes tuition, all materials, room and board. Limit 12.
Welcome materials will be sent by the end of June.

How would your life be different, as a young woman struggling to find your voice, if you found a place to speak as a woman and be listened to deeply and attentively . . . (adapted from Judith Duerk, I Sit Listening to the Wind)

All Young Women Writing for (a) Change programs are designed to help strengthen girls' and teens' authentic voices; their ability to 'speak out' through writing and in person; and their faith in their own creativity.

OUR GOALS ARE TO:

  • enhance self-esteem;
  • build skills in creative self-expression;
  • learn to receive and give honest support and encouragement;
  • develop skills in building and maintaining community;
  • seek and recognize role models who inspire creative life choices.

WHAT WE WILL DO:

  • Create a supportive community of writers
  • Write together and on our own
  • Share our writing and listen to one another
  • Explore other modes of artistic expression
  • Read and discuss stories, poems and articles

 "This is a real community where everyone is an active part.                              This is where I come alive and realize my true beauty and strength."
